Yangtze Experience
2 Nights Shanghai, 4 Nights Yangtze Cruise, 2 Nights Xian and 3 Nights Beijing


Days 1 - 3 Shanghai

Fly to Shanghai, arriving one day later in China's largest city and most important seaport. Deluxe accommodations await you at the Le Meridien Hotel, ideally situated on Nanjing Road. Enjoy a special welcome dinner at one of Shanghai's fine restaurants. Spend a full day touring the sights of the city. See the exquisite Yu Garden, walk the famous Bund and fashionable Nanjing Road, stop for a scrumptious dim sum lunch, view historical relics at the Shanghai Museum, and visit a silk weaving workshop.

Days 4 - 7 Yangtze River
Fly to Yichang and catch a glimpse of the area with a visit to a local fresh food market. Dine at a local restaurant before boarding the new luxury five-star river cruiser – MV Yangtze Explorer. Settle into your deluxe outside cabin with a floor to ceiling sliding glass door opening to your private balcony, and get ready to enjoy the scenic journey on the fascinating Yangtze. During the next few days you will pass through beautiful Xiling Gorge; see the amazing Three Gorges Dam; cruise Shennong Stream; view the splendid Wu and Qutang Gorges; and tour Wanzhou.

Day 8 - 9 Chongqing / Xian
Disembark the ship in Chongqing and explore the city on a tour of the highlights. Visit the Chongqing Zoo, Grand Hall and General Stillwell's Museum. Fly to Xian where your luxury accommodations await at the centrally located, five star Sofitel Hotel. Spend the day discovering the remarkable sights of Xian, beginning with a visit to the world-renowned Terra Cotta Warriors. Marvel at the great ranks of life-sized soldiers, generals, charioteers, and horses of the Terra Cotta Army. Enjoy a dumpling lunch demonstration. In the afternoon, stroll through the old city walls that date from the Ming Dynasty and stop at a pottery workshop. A Tang Dynasty music and dance show with dinner brings the day to a close.

Days 10 - 13 Beijing
Take a morning flight to China's capital city of Beijing and check-in at the deluxe China World Hotel ideally located in the city center. Spend a leisurely afternoon exploring, or join an optional excursion to the magnificent Summer Palace and Lama Temple. In the evening, enjoy an optional dinner and Beijing Opera performance. Witness the sights of the city that blends new with old, where modern high-rise buildings appear next to ancient monuments. Walk along the awe-inspiring Great Wall, the 2,000 year-old landmark that shows an astonishing feat of engineering. Tour old Beijing's Hutongs by rickshaw and visit a local family to learn about the daily life of ordinary Beijing citizens. Take a morning trip to the Temple of Heaven and join with local seniors in their traditional exercise. Explore the Forbidden City, a stunning, 9,000-room maze of courtyards, palaces, apartments, and storehouses for the Royal family. Participate in a traditional tea ceremony. Walk through Tien An Man Square, the largest public square capable of holding more than a million people. Reminisce with fellow travelers at a gala farewell dinner on your final evening in China. Depart the next afternoon for the USA, arriving the same day.
