9 Nights Beijing, 2 Nights Xian, 2 Nights Shanghai


Days 1 - 3 Beijing


Fly to China's capital and the site of the next Summer Olympic Games. Arrive the next day and get ready to explore the city that blends new with old, where modern high-rise buildings appear next to ancient monuments. Walk on the awe-inspiring Great Wall, the only man-made structure visible from space, and then stroll down the Sacred Way lined with stone animals to the 15th century Ming Tombs.

Day 4 - 10 Beijing International Culture Exchange College
Your week of Chinese language study takes place at the International Culture Exchange College. Enjoy lunch and exchange views and stories with local students. Tour famous Beijing landmarks including the Forbidden City, Tian an men Square and the Temple of Heaven. Spend an afternoon practicing your new language skills with the locals. Attend a special Peking Duck dinner.

Days 11 - 12 Xian
Take a morning flight to Xian, whose history spans more than 3000 years. Tour the 900 year-old Forest of Stone Stele Museum and the Provincial History Museum, a showcase of ancient civilizations. Spend time at the site of the 2000 year-old Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses a significant archeological discovery that was uncovered in 1974. See an IMAX documentary on its history. Visit the impressive Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a well-preserved 7th-century Buddhist holy place, and learn its legends.

Days 13 - 15 Shanghai
Fly to China's largest city and most important seaport, Shanghai, arriving in time for a lunch visit with a local family. Spend a full day touring the sights of the city. See the exquisite Yu Garden, visit the City Planning Exhibition Center, and view historical relics at the Shanghai Museum. Walk the famous Bund and fashionable Nanjing Road. And reminisce with fellow students at a festive farewell dinner before departing for home.
